Abstract
- The author argues that the contemporary cross-discipline of Discourse Studies have gone beyond the impressionistic interpretation of texts as traditionally practiced in hermeneutics. He provides his early research experiences to better understand his comments on Allan Bell's paper on the role of hermeneutics in contemporary discourse studies. He points to Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as a social movement of sociopolitically committed discourse analysts.
