Abstract
- In the present paper, I focus on the consequences of corrupt behavior, the context and causes of corruption, the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives, the political nature of corruption, and the role of political institutions in curbing or increasing corruption. The purpose of this article is to describe the findings from this review and to discuss implications and future directions for the causes and consequences of corruption within the criminal justice system, the impact of anti-corruption strategies, policies and measures, structural and cultural measures to combat corruption, the broad and pervasive nature of corruption, and the reality of corruption.
