Abstract

The article presents a study on the role of donor genital tract (GT) HIV-1 diversity in the heterosexual transmission of HIV infections. The researchers have compared the virus in infected partners and the samples in the transmitted genetic variants. It implies that GT populations cannot be unequivocally defined due to the limitation of exact genetic composition of the virus population.
