Abstract: The article presents a study which focuses on the use of remote sensing method for retrieving aerosol optical thickness (AOT) over snow using infrared (IR) Advanced Along Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR). A comparison of the method with the ground-based Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) data is highlighted. A case study about the AOT retrieval using the method is also outlined.
