Abstract

A biography of Sir Walter Scott, Scottish poet and novelists, is presented. He was born on August 15, 1771 in Edinburgh, Scotland and studied at Royal High School of Edinburgh. He then enrolled at the University of Edinburgh as a student of Latin and Greek in October 1793. He was granted the honour of a baronetcy by George IV in March 1820. His insolvency which involve the bankruptcy of Messrs Ballantyne, a printing firm, where he was a partner, were also discussed.
