Abstract
- The article discusses diplomatic relations between the U.S. and France between 1969 and 1974. It analyzes the relationship between former U.S. president Richard M. Nixon and former French president Georges Pompidou, as well as the role played by former U.S. national security adviser Henry Kissinger during that time period. The article examines what the author identifies as a decreasing role in foreign affairs by the British, U.S. concerns about the policies of West Germany toward Soviet bloc nations under the leadership of former leader Willy Brandt, and the stability of the North American Treaty Organization (NATO).
