Abstract

The article discusses the comparison of the quantity of news consumed by a Frenchman and Englishman in 1819. A writer of the "Edinburgh Review" indicates that thirty-four thousand papers are dispatched everyday from Paris to the departments. It mentions that the circulation and number of country papers in England are greater compared to France, but they increase the proportion of readers in England to approximately 25 to one.
