Abstract

A criticism is presented of the poetry of World War II British soldiers which argues for their accounts as a kind of testimony, based on the collections relating to the "Oasis" poets housed in Great Britain's Imperial War Museum. Topics include Holocaust literature and victim/perpetrator testimony and poetry. The poems mentioned include "Ubique," by Jack Bevan; "Drumhead," by Victor West; and "Elegy for an 88 Gunner," by Keith Douglas.
