Abstract

The article discusses the environmental policies of France in 2011. It says that the strong commitment of the French government to substantially reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is reflected in its long-term objective of a 75% reduction from 1990 levels to be achieved by 2050. The options for how to impose an explicit carbon price on sectors not covered by the European Union Emission Trading Scheme (EU-ETS) are also discussed.
