Abstract

The article presents U.S. studies pertaining to business research in the 1920s. One study focuses on a proposal for term settlement plans for U.S. securities purchases. The plan would change the delivery time for purchases and sales on the New York Stock Exchange. European exchanges employ such methods. Another study focuses on the investment policies of U.S. commercial banks. It discusses the use of bank reserves on the call money market as opposed to U.S. Federal Government bonds. Analysts say when money rates are falling investments in government bonds hold a higher appreciation value. Another study compares the pig-iron prices of the U.S. and England from 1914-1922. Since World War I the U.S. price of pig-iron has increased while England's has steadily declined.
