Abstract

The authors introduce an entirely new Multilayer Transient Testing approach that uses transient temperature data at multiple locations together with a single-point transient pressure measurement. The article presents the complete mathematical model including the forward and inverse models. The forward model couples wellbore and reservoir models for simulating transient temperature and pressure for single-phase flow, and it is used to investigate the possibility of evaluating formation properties from transient temperature and pressure measurements. With the inverse model, permeability, damaged permeability, and damaged radius in multiple layers can be quantified as independent regression parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
