Abstract

Meiosis is described in thirty-seven taxa ranging from low to high chromosome numbers. Most were regular and bivalent forming. C. flavus subsp. flavus was observed at first anaphase only and was highly irregular. C. speciosus had one or two possible interchange quadrivalents and the C. vernus aneuploid cultivars exhibited multivalents, bivalents and univalents together with some anaphase bridges and fragments. Chiasma frequency is determined here for the first time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
