Abstract

A critique of column one lines 1-34 of the ancient Greek poem "PMG 654" by Corinna is presented. The author discusses the poem in relation to the mythology developed by ancient Greek poet Hesiod, its use of Boeotian mountains, and the poem's structure. The author describes the birth of the Greek god Zeus in poetry, "Theogony" by Hesiod, and the mythological figures of the Curetes. The author analyzes how Corinna and other poets such as Epimenides of Crete used Hesiod's mythology.
