Abstract
- The article discusses the destruction of parish churches in the City of London, England, up to 1940. It comments on reasons behind destruction, including a shift of the population to the suburbs, a lack of appreciation of the churches' architecture, and road and bridge construction. Several demolished churches are considered, including St. Christopher-le-Stocks, St. Benet Fink, and St. Michael's, Crooked Lane. The author notes that many of the demolished churches were designed by English architect Christopher Wren.
