Abstract
- The article discusses the myth that Rajput kings and chieftains were converted to Islam at the command of Mughal emperors. According to a study of Mughal India's Persian documents, religion was at the bottom of all Mughal emperors' agenda. It was noted that there was no religious or political obsession from the Mughals to convert Rajputs to their religion. In the book "Akbar: The Great Mughal," Vincent Smith said at least 200 small chieftains became Muslims on their own to please the emperor.
