Abstract
- The transient interaction between a spherical acoustic wave and an elastic cylindrical shell containing an internally attached multidegree-of-freedom mechanical system is investigated within the limits of linear theory. Numerical results are obtained for the transient response of a spherical pressure-wave excited submerged shell containing a two-degree-of-freedom mechanical system. The interaction problem was solved using integral transform techniques. Both a series solution and an asymptotic solution for early time interaction were obtained, and good agreement was obtained between these two solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
