Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted to examine maternal perceptions of barriers to care of children with orofacial clefts (OFC) in North Carolina. The study included a combination of mail and phone survey that was sent to all mothers of the children with OFC consisting of questions. The study concluded that training and continuing education for health professionals may increase their understanding of the specific needs of families of children with OFC.
