Abstract

The article offers a guide for the prevention of pigeon fever in horses and protect them against this infection. It suggests horse owners to keep paddocks clear of manure since the bacterium that cause pigeon fever thrives in soil contaminated with manure. It also advises owners to protect horses against flies because they are carriers of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis, to keep wounds clean, isolate infected horses, and quarantine new horses.
