Abstract

This paper investigates the characteristics of successful cooperative cataloging. A selected historical review of cooperative activities is given, and two current initiatives, CONSER and NCCP, are explored in detail. Next, the role and scope of cooperative cataloging in the electronic networked environment is examined. Finally, the paper proposes a structure for creating a vision for the future of networked, cooperative cataloging. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
