Abstract

The article examines the presence of a carbapenemase-encoding gene in Escherichia coli isolated from a livestock farm. It states that the occurrence of extended spectrum Β-lactamase (ESBL) in Enterobacteriaceae isolated from food-producing animals and the increase in their prevalence is a worldwide problem, however, the presence of carbapenemases is restricted to humans. It cites that the presence of this gene and the possibility of their transmission is a major concern for public health.
