The article reports on the denial of a charitable contribution deduction for a gift of a historic preservation facade easement by the U.S. Tax Court on June 11, 2012. It says that the gift was denied due because the appraisal obtained by the donors did not comply with the federal tax law. Moreover, the appraisal determined the pre-value of the property using the market data approach.
