Abstract

The article discusses the usage of the poem "Kubla Khan," by Samuel Taylor Coleridge in providing figurative elements to the book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," by Hunter S. Thompson. The poem focuses on the Mongolian emperor Kubla Khan, grandson of Mongolian leader Genghis Khan, and his role in building of the enchanted kingdom of Xanadu. The poem is related to the introduction of the book, where it explains the connection between fiction and journalism.
