Effect of L-Cysteine in Tris-citric Egg Yolk Extender on Post-Thaw Quality of Nili-Ravi Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Bull Spermatozoa.

The article discusses a study which investigated the effect of cysteine in extender on the post-thaw semen quality of Nili-Ravi buffalo bull spermatozoa. In this study, semen was collected from five buffalo bulls of similar age group with artificial vagina for three weeks. The thawing of the frozen semen was performed after 24 hours of cryopreservation at 37°C for 30 seconds and then assessed for sperm motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity and normal apical ridge. It concluded that the extender containing cysteine improved the freezability of Nili-Rivi buffalo bull spermatozoa.
