Abstract

The article presents the author's views on the relevance of political studies in Great Britain. He explores his experience of being a lecturer at the 2012 Political Studies Association conference held in Belfast, Northern Ireland wherein he argued that the study of politics is in danger of irrelevance. He discusses three reasons to support his argument which are the changing context and culture of the academe, the anti-intellectual culture, and the changing academic context. He also tackles the revolution in information technology which allows the public to produce output that can be readily used in public debate.
