Abstract

This article discusses the development of Internet (net)-enabled maritime missile weapons for the U.S. Navy, which can still function despite a communications failure. Topics include the use of a long-range, high-resolution airborne radar to guide the net-enabled missiles, the anticipated use of defense contractor Raytheon's Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) for anti-surface warfare (ASuW), and the importance of large radar systems with net-enabled weapons to accurately avoid non-target ships.
