Abstract

In the Czech Republic, in Opava region, in vicinity of the village Koberice is deposit of natural gypsum, which is mined by company Gypstrend Ltd. with the HQ in Koberice. The mined mineral is used as addition to cement and for production of gypsum binder. To obtain further growth prospect in the established tradition, the company Gypstrend Ltd. already decided in advance to prepare continuation of mining operation in an adjacent locality Sudice. At this point exists two main proposals of potential mine development. The first proposal is from year 1995 and is suggesting development by commonly used development method so-called "Pear". The second proposal is from year 1997 and suggests alternative English development method "Box Cut". These proposals, despite they earlier date of issue, have not been compared by Gypstrend Ltd. in terms of financial benefits neither in term of their complete economical contribution. This paper summarizes some of the results comparing these two methods and shows the main differences between them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
