Abstract
- The article focuses on the proliferation of newspapers in Lebanon. It mentions that the development and use of newspapers in the Arab world like Lebanon happened in the second half of the nineteenth century and is due to the felt need of the intellectuals in educating and guiding their people. It adds that the history of journalism in the country can be traced to a group of men who are devoted to letters wherein the first newspaper in the country was entitled "Hadikat al-Akhbar" (The Garden of News), which was published by Khalil el-Khuri on January 1, 1858. Moreover, it mentions that the country's newspapers emanate in times of crises.
