Abstract

In this article, Stevens et al. present a series of findings that demonstrate vimentin, an intermediate filament protein, to be a key regulator of nucleodde-binding oligomerization domain containing 2 (NOD2) function. Genetic variants of the vimentin gene are associated with Crohn's disease, supporting a role for this protein in disease pathogenesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
