The article examines the consequences of an attack by Islamist militants on the In Amenas natural gas facility in Algeria. The militants demanded an end to France's intervention against Islamist militants in Mali. It is noted that the attack can negatively affect Algeria's economy which depends significantly on oil and gas. Algeria's western partners are also expected to react to the manner in which Algeria handled the crisis.
