Abstract

The article discusses a study which explored whether and how social warning imagery could affect tobacco smoking experimentation and cessation. Several governments reportedly introduced pictorial health warnings (PHWs) that feature medical images warning of smoking's effects to reduce smoking prevalence. The study found the efficacy of an image showing loss of attractiveness as were the addiction and de-normalization warnings.
