Abstract
- The article reports that the 2001 outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Great Britain has taught U.S. livestock producers the importance of traceability to slow the spread of the disease. According to veterinarian Soren Rodning, one of the main challenges in dealing with the disease outbreak is tracking the movements of animals. He reports that the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries has launched a program designed to improve the ability to track animal movements in the state.
