Comparing U.S. and U.K. Gold.

The article discusses gold or scholarly journals and open access (OA) journals in the context of U.S. and Great Britain's policies on public access to research. The issue of fees charged to access journals in which research was financed by government grants is noted. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) for evaluating research quality in Great Britain is noted as well as why the U.S. will probably not set up a similar mandate.
