Abstract

In the internet today, computing and communication networks are very chaotic and complex. They do not have any centralized organization or hierarchical control. Thus there has been much interest in peer-to-peer networks because they provide a good substrate for creating large scale data sharing, content distribution and application level multicast. Many internet applications need to perform large scale data transfer from multiple sources example: massive data mining applications in geographic frameworks. An application layer multicast using peer to peer overlay structure is a good alternative. In this paper an overlay network structure is created with N nodes such that nodes satisfy certain proximity conditions. Overlay networks that are proximity aware have better performance than other overlay networks. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
