Abstract
- Numerical investigations of radiation exposure and X-ray image contrast were carried out. Possibility to reduce radiation exposure by 30% and increase image contrast in 1.5 times was showed in case of using monochromatic X-rays in comparison with traditional roentgenography. Method with using monochromatic X-ray beam was considered for reduction radiation exposure and raise quality of X-ray image. It is planned to receive such beams by means of monochromatization bremsstrahlung generated by electron beam with energy equal to a few MeV. Estimation of raise quality of X-ray imaging and reduction radiation exposure levels were conducted by means of comparing such characteristics as X-ray imaging contrast, signal-to-noise ratio in a detector's channel and equivalent dose absorbed by an object of investigation in cases of using monochromatic X-rays and continuous spectrum of X-ray tubes. Water phantom with thickness equal to 10 cm with 1% density variation, which simulated typical chest, was considered in the experiment. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
