Abstract

This study aimed at to acquire mitoxantrone liposome (LEM) formulation with high encapsulation efficiency and with a good stability. Different compositions of lipids at different molar ratios were used for mitoxantrone (MTO) preparations by film method and lyophilized method. The result showed encapsulation efficiency of MTO liposome achieved morn than 90% at the molar ratio (drug: lipid) of 1:12.5 using both the film method or lyophilized method. The size of the liposome is ranged from 50-80nm. The stabiliy of MTO liposomes is good with no changes for appearance character and encaplulation efficiency within 8 hours after the freshly prepared. The encapsulation efficiency of MTO liposomes has no significant differences between the film method and lyophilized method. Based above results, an improved formulation and preparation method of MTO liposomes with a promising clinical application was established in this investigation. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
