Abstract

Wireless sensor unit is a vital part of the Internet of Things, which is responsible for signal acquisition and transmission. Electromagnetic disturbance issue in substation where wireless sensors are usually located be studied to ensure reliability and security of the Internet of Things. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic disturbance to the wireless sensor unit generated by operation of power system. Through field measurements, research on characteristics of steady-state and transient electromagnetic disturbance in substations of different voltage levels and of different insulation types is carried out. Moreover, experiments of partial discharge and flashover in a high-voltage experimental hall are performed and transient electromagnetic disturbance characteristics are gained. Through statistical analysis based on extensive field measurement data, statistical characteristics of electromagnetic disturbance in time domain and frequency domain are, therefore, obtained. Simulation is applied to reveal influence of electromagnetic disturbance to the wireless sensor unit. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
