Abstract

The article discusses various central claims encouraging schools to adopt uniform policies in the U.S. as of March 2013. Uniform proponents claim uniforms eliminate the pressure on low-income families to purchase name-brand clothing, therefore, being cost-effective for low-income families. They also claim uniforms will keep students out of trouble both in the classroom and off campus. They also claim uniforms create a positive school culture and prevent crime and violence.
