Abstract

An interview with project manager Philip Ryan of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects about the stone design of a building for the Barnes Fountain is presented. When asked about the stone selection process, he mentioned that they opted for an assortment of limestone and Tennessee Pink marble. He says the main consideration for the selection is the freeze/thaw property of the stones. He also notes that the variety within the stone is the reason they chose to use Ramon Gray as the stone material.
