Vulnerable Vulvas: Female Genital Integrity in Health and Dis-ease.

An essay is presented which discusses the social aspects of women's health, with a particular focus on the health of the female genitalia. The role that vulva pain putatively plays in representing the refusal of heterosexual penile-vaginal intercourse, including the opportunity it allegedly gives women to evaluate the sexual desires of their male partner, is discussed.
