Abstract

Stresses in concrete are modified by the effects of creep and shrinkage, and can be estimated only if these data are known. A solid model which approximates the structure of concrete is proposed and is used to predict creep and shrinkage strains for concretes containing various aggregates of many mix proportions, from data relating to the constituent materials. Model predictions are compared against experimental results and it is concluded that an advantage of the model has been its ability to predict time-dependent strains in concrete from a minimum of experimental data.
