Abstract

The article looks at Corfam, a substitute for leather developed by chemicals company Du Pont. It discusses the increasing popularity of the product, which is being used by 45 shoe manufacturers in the U.S. It looks at a promotional campaign by the tanning industry which persuades consumers not to use synthetic leather. An overview of the national advertising strategy to be used by Du Pont to launch Corfam is also provided.
