Abstract

The article presents information on the effect of performance evaluation on interpersonal distance. It is possible that the failure to find significant relationships between personality dimensions and interpersonal distance arises from a lack of congruence between the measured personality dimension and the situation in which distance is being measured. That is, personality variables should be related to distance only when those variables are related to the interpersonal interaction dimension being manipulated. The strategy in the present study was, therefore, to include personality measures frequently related to the situation under investigation.
