Abstract: This publication provides a country report on Australia as of August 2013. The election scheduled before the end of November 2013 is expected to be won by the opposition. The budget for fiscal year 2013/2014 is described as fairly tough. An agreement was signed by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Papua New Guinean Prime Minister Peter O'Neill which states that all asylum-seekers arriving in Australia by boat will be settled in Papua New Guinea.
