Abstract
- The article discusses the use of mnemonics and graphic organizers to help secondary students with learning disabilities (LD) improve their comprehension of social studies texts. The authors outline teaching methods based on visual mnemonics, including discussions of acoustic, symbolic, and mimetic elaborations, and various types of graphic organizers are discussed, including sequential, compare and contrast, and multi-component organizers.
