Abstract
- SUMMARY Six cases of primary epithelial neoplasm of the ureter, classified as 3 papillomata and 3 carcinomata, are reported., The recent literature has been reviewed. There are on record 77 cases of benign tumour and 245 of carcinoma., The clinical picture, diagnosis, and treatment of such tumours are discussed., The retrograde spread of ureteric tumours to the pelvis of the kidney is postulated. Case 5 is considered an example of this form of metastasis., The correct pre-operative diagnosis is being made with progressively greater frequency., There has been a considerable lowering of the operative mortality in this condition, but in the case of carcinomata few long-term survivals have been recorded.
