Abstract

The article presents information on book publishing in the field of Anthropology in the U.S. The publishing of Anthropological books has been affected by the shrinkage of the market and financial shortage. The current situation of the book publishing in Anthropology can be determined by a study commissioned by the Association of American University Presses in 1988. In the U.S., university presses, academically oriented commercial publishing houses and the textbook divisions of commercial publishers publish Anthropology books. Despite the fragmentation of the field and the lack of anthropologists and students, book publishing in anthropology has remained healthy.
