Abstract
- The article discusses defense contractor Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works division's X-51 hypersonic missile program as of November 4, 2013. Background is presented on the U.S. Department of Defense's efforts to develop hypersonic missile systems since China's testing of its anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon in January 2007. The author says advances in related technologies have made it possible for the U.S. to develop hypersonic missiles.
