Abstract

The article reveals an evidence on the role of the U.S. President Ronald Reagan administration's in the decline and fall of the Soviet empire as well as the end of the Cold War. It describes top-secret presidential directives indicating that the President Reagan and a few advisors began a strategic offensive aimed at attacking the weaknesses of the Soviet system in 1982. The strategy was most evident in the National Security Decision Directive 75 which was signed by the president in early 1983. It declared a policy of rolling back Soviet power.
