Abstract

The article explores how routine outcome measurement (ROM) was used to support benchmarking within mental health services in Australia. It describes the issues that has to be considered when using ROM to support benchmarking and offers advice on how to facilitate the use of ROM within benchmarking. It refers to benchmarking as a systematic process of searching for and implementing a standard of best practices within an individual service or the same groups of services.
