Examines the link between observational and checklist measures in gauging vocabulary size and composition in children. Existing correlationship; Influence of maternal-report bias and sampling bias on the measures; Unreliability of the measures in gauging proportion of nouns in children's vocabularies; Accuracy of measurement through detailed longitudinal studies.
